What is Immersion
The St Vincent de Paul Society Immersion Program started in 2003 with a group engaging with the Palm Island community. The immersion program was originally introduced to address the need within the community to bridge the gap between the Townsville and Palm Island community. It was also as a need for the St Vincent de Paul Society Queensland to provide assistance to the local indigenous community for reconciliation. The immersions offer an opportunity for volunteers to become immersed within the community to hear stories and spend time with a community in need of support.
